Audi Targets U.S. Luxury SUV Market with New Q9 Flagship, Next-Gen Q7 and Updated Q4 e-tron

Audi is preparing a major product offensive in the United States, as the German automaker looks to strengthen its position in the highly competitive luxury vehicle segment with the rollout of three key sport utility vehicles.

According to industry reports, Audi plans to introduce an all-new Q9, a next-generation Q7, and a refreshed Q4 e-tron over the coming months. The trio is expected to form the backbone of the brand’s renewed push to regain market share from established rivals including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Lexus.

Central to this strategy is the upcoming Audi Q9, a full-size flagship SUV designed with U.S. consumer preferences in mind. The three-row model is expected to debut later this year, with sales in the American market slated to begin in 2027. Positioned at the top of Audi’s SUV lineup, the Q9 will mark the company’s first purpose-built entry into the full-size luxury SUV segment.

The model will compete directly with leading vehicles such as the Mercedes-Benz GLS, BMW X7, Cadillac Escalade, and Range Rover. While the current Q7 offers three-row seating, the Q9 is expected to provide a more spacious, premium-focused alternative aimed at buyers seeking larger, high-end SUVs.

In parallel, Audi is set to update its Q4 e-tron, the brand’s compact electric SUV. The refresh comes at a time when automakers are adjusting their electric vehicle strategies amid shifting consumer demand. Despite a slowdown in near-term EV growth, analysts continue to expect sustained long-term expansion in the segment.

Audi has also confirmed that the third-generation Q7 will debut later this year as a 2027 model. The redesigned SUV will replace the current version, which was first introduced in 2015 and has since undergone two facelifts. The new Q7 is expected to feature enhanced hybrid powertrains and upgraded technology, helping it remain competitive against newer rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X5.

Together, the launch of the Q9, the overhaul of the Q7, and the refresh of the Q4 e-tron signal a coordinated effort by Audi to revitalize its U.S. lineup and strengthen its position in the premium SUV market.
