Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the 2027 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, a flagship model that redefines ultra-luxury vehicles with advanced technology, refined performance, and extensive personalization options. Built on the updated W223-generation S-Class platform, the facelifted Maybach combines commanding presence with the highest levels of comfort and craftsmanship.
The new lineup offers a range of powertrains tailored to diverse customer preferences. The standard S580 and S680 models feature a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing up to 450 kW and 850 Nm in European markets. Both variants are equipped with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that enhances acceleration and efficiency, with fuel consumption estimated at approximately 11 L/100 km.
For eco-conscious buyers, Mercedes-Benz also offers the S580 plug-in hybrid with EQ Hybrid Technology. This model pairs a 3.0-liter inline-six turbocharged engine with an electric motor and a 21.96 kWh battery, delivering a combined 430 kW and 750 Nm. It achieves significantly lower fuel consumption of around 3.0 L/100 km and allows for up to 100 kilometers of pure electric driving.
At the top of the range, the S680 features a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine producing 463 kW and 900 Nm. Prioritizing smooth, effortless power, the V12 version will be available in select markets, including Australia, appealing to buyers unconcerned with fuel efficiency.
All variants come with all-wheel drive, air suspension, and rear-axle steering, ensuring a blend of comfort and agility. Exterior updates include a redesigned grille with illuminated Maybach branding, a glowing three-pointed star emblem on the bonnet, and additional illuminated logos on the rear window. Chrome accents enhance the vehicle’s elongated silhouette, while the optional Night Series package replaces chrome with darker finishes and adds exclusive colors such as Nautic Blue metallic. The updated headlamps feature subtle star-shaped details and rose gold accents, complemented by 20-inch forged alloy wheels with floating center caps.
Personalization remains central to the Maybach experience. Buyers can select from an extensive palette of exterior colors, including bespoke two-tone finishes with hand-painted pinstripes. Inside, materials range from traditional leather and natural wood to innovative alternatives like Mirville textile, a leather-free option with a natural look. Custom embroidery and unique design requests further allow owners to create a truly one-of-a-kind vehicle.
The cabin focuses on rear-seat luxury, offering a four-seat configuration with a central console that includes a built-in refrigerator and custom silver-plated champagne flutes developed with Robbe & Berking. Rear passengers enjoy reclining seats with massage, heating, and ventilation, extendable footrests, and power-operated doors.
Technology takes center stage with the latest MB.OS operating system, integrating an enhanced MBUX interface across up to eight displays. The front “Superscreen” combines the digital instrument cluster, central touchscreen, and passenger display under a single glass panel. A large head-up display provides key driving information, while rear passengers benefit from individual screens and handheld controllers. MB.OS also supports advanced connectivity, including Microsoft Office and Google Gemini, enabling work and digital access while on the move.
The 2027 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is expected to reach key markets, including Australia, between late 2026 and early 2027. Its launch celebrates 140 years since the Benz Patent Motorwagen and over a century of Maybach heritage, reinforcing Mercedes-Benz’s leadership in the global luxury automotive market.
