The BMW iX3 has been named the 2026 World Car of the Year, while also taking home the 2026 World Electric Vehicle of the Year award after being selected by a panel of 98 automotive journalists.

The dual victory was announced at the New York International Auto Show, marking a significant achievement for BMW on one of the industry’s most prominent global stages.

With this latest success, BMW has now accumulated nine total honors at the event since its launch 22 years ago, reinforcing the brand’s strong presence in the global automotive awards circuit.

The iX3 competed against 57 other vehicles to secure the top titles. In the electric vehicle category, it notably outperformed rivals such as the Nissan Leaf and Mercedes-Benz CLA.

Judges praised the model for its combination of performance, cutting-edge technology, and forward-looking design. The vehicle is built on BMW’s Neue Klasse platform, which underpins the company’s next generation of electric mobility.

Key highlights of the iX3 include a driving range of up to 800 kilometers, ultra-fast charging capability of up to 400 kW, a Panoramic iDrive display, and the “Heart of Joy” control system.

Since its debut in March, the iX3 has already attracted more than 50,000 orders, signaling strong market demand and a positive reception for BMW’s evolving electric vehicle strategy.
