Chevrolet has confirmed that the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport and Grand Sport X will mark the final new variants of the eighth-generation C8 Corvette. The latest Grand Sport models bring significant updates, including a new 6.7-liter LS6 V8 engine replacing the outgoing 6.2-liter LT2. This new powertrain boosts output to 535 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque, delivering improved performance for both the standard Grand Sport and the base Stingray model. Additionally, the Grand Sport X variant introduces a hybrid system with an electric motor on the front axle, combining for a total of 721 horsepower and all-wheel drive.
While Chevrolet has not officially announced when the ninth-generation Corvette will launch, industry experts speculate it could debut as early as late 2028 or early 2029, possibly at the Detroit auto show. This timing aligns with past Corvette generational cycles and Chevrolet’s strategy of introducing a Grand Sport model late in each cycle to maintain excitement.
