Mercedes-AMG’s upcoming electric performance SUV has been reimagined in a fresh set of realistic renderings, offering one of the clearest looks yet at what could become one of the brand’s most powerful production vehicles.
Expected to arrive around 2027 before likely reaching the market as a 2028 model, the high-performance EV is widely referred to as the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV, although the final name has not yet been confirmed. The model was previously seen testing in northern Sweden wearing heavy camouflage, revealing only its proportions and a handful of exterior details.
Based on those early prototype sightings, digital artist Nikita Chuyko of Kolesa has created a speculative interpretation that points to a bold and distinctive design direction. The rendered SUV adopts a low, athletic stance with a coupe-like roofline, broad shoulders and a muscular overall profile that positions it squarely in the growing high-performance luxury SUV segment.
At the front, the SUV is shown with AMG’s signature Panamericana grille, flanked by slim lighting elements connected by a full-width light bar. The illuminated grille outline adds to the futuristic styling, while the absence of the brand’s recent star-pattern headlight treatment suggests Mercedes-AMG may be taking a different visual approach for this flagship electric model.
The side profile features flush door handles and sculpted bodywork, while the rear design stands out with circular taillight graphics, a ducktail-style spoiler and an additional roof-mounted spoiler. Large alloy wheels and a pronounced rear diffuser further reinforce the SUV’s performance-focused identity, with the AMG badge prominently positioned between the taillights.
Beyond the styling, the biggest talking point remains performance. Industry speculation suggests the range-topping version of the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV could use a tri-motor electric powertrain delivering as much as 1,000 kW, or roughly 1,340 horsepower. If those figures prove accurate, the model would rank among the most powerful electric SUVs on the market and could emerge as a serious rival to the upcoming Porsche Cayenne Electric.
The SUV is also expected to ride on Mercedes-AMG’s dedicated AMG.EA platform, which is being developed specifically for next-generation high-performance electric vehicles. In addition to the flagship version, lower-output variants are also believed to be in development as AMG expands its EV lineup.
If launched on the expected timeline, the electric SUV would join AMG’s future performance sedan in helping define the Affalterbach brand’s next chapter. While the renderings remain unofficial, they offer an early indication of how Mercedes-AMG may blend aggressive design with ultra-high electric performance in one of its most ambitious models yet.
