Volvo has offered an early look at the all-new 2027 EX60, a battery-electric SUV set to arrive later this year as part of the brand’s expanding EV lineup. Positioned as a next-generation midsize electric model, the EX60 introduces new platform technology, faster charging capability, and a more advanced in-cabin digital experience.
The new EX60 is built on Volvo’s SPA3 architecture, a fresh platform designed to support the company’s latest battery-electric vehicles. According to Volvo, the new underpinnings are intended to improve both efficiency and performance, allowing the EX60 to deliver longer driving range and quicker charging than previous models.
Volvo said buyers will be able to choose from multiple electric motor and battery configurations, with top versions producing as much as 670 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. At its most capable, the EX60 is expected to offer up to 400 miles of driving range, while also accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in under four seconds.
To support that performance without compromising day-to-day usability, Volvo claims the EX60 will be capable of accepting up to 400 kW of DC fast charging. Under ideal conditions, that would allow the SUV to add approximately 173 miles of range in just 10 minutes, or charge from 10% to 80% in around 19 minutes. In practice, however, access to chargers capable of delivering that level of output may remain limited in some markets, particularly in the United States.
Inside, the EX60 continues Volvo’s push toward a more premium and software-focused cabin. Available features include a Bowers & Wilkins audio system with up to 28 speakers and a center touchscreen measuring up to 15.0 inches. The infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while also integrating Google’s Gemini AI Assistant for more advanced voice and digital functions.
Volvo also confirmed a more rugged EX60 Cross Country variant, aimed at buyers looking for a slightly tougher appearance and additional ground clearance. The model is expected to expand the SUV’s appeal beyond urban and family-focused EV buyers by adding a more adventure-oriented option to the lineup.
The early preview was accompanied by commentary from multiple specialists, including discussions focused on the EX60’s exterior design, the operation of its large center display, and the capabilities of Gemini AI inside the vehicle. Together, those elements suggest Volvo is positioning the EX60 not just as another electric SUV, but as a major step forward in the company’s next phase of EV development.
