Italian luxury carmaker Automobili Lamborghini expects demand for super luxury cars in India to remain stable this year, driven by a new generation of buyers, improving infrastructure, and consistent government policies, CEO Stephan Winkelmann said.
Addressing concerns about potential impacts from volatile stock markets and geopolitical tensions in West Asia, including the US-Israel-Iran conflict, Winkelmann stated, “Our forecast, based on current knowledge, anticipates a stable situation in the Indian market.”
However, the company is unlikely to benefit from the proposed India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (EU-FTA), as the deal currently excludes plug-in hybrid vehicles, which make up Lamborghini’s portfolio.
“There is good and bad news. The signing of the EU-India tariff reduction is positive, but it does not affect our cars since it covers internal combustion engine vehicles, not plug-in hybrids. All our models are plug-in hybrids,” Winkelmann explained. He added that while the current structure of the trade deal leaves Lamborghini outside its benefits, there is hope that future amendments could include plug-in hybrids.
Lamborghini’s lineup in India, including the Urus SE, Temerarío, and Revuelto, is priced between INR 4.47 crore and INR 8.70 crore (ex-showroom). The company sold over 100 units in India last year.
Winkelmann expressed optimism about India’s long-term growth potential, noting a generational shift in buyers and increasing openness to luxury vehicles. He also highlighted improvements in infrastructure and the stability of government policies as favorable factors for growth.
While Lamborghini plans to continue investing in products and brand presence in India, Winkelmann emphasized that the company will not aggressively push volumes. “We will leverage every opportunity to expand our footprint in India, but we will not artificially inflate sales in one year only to fall short in the next,” he said.
Globally, Lamborghini delivered 10,747 vehicles in 2025, surpassing the 10,000-unit milestone for the third consecutive year.
