Belgium-based electric truck manufacturer Windrose, which has Chinese roots, has marked its UK debut by completing its first charge at Fleete’s state-of-the-art ultra-rapid charging hub at the Port of Tilbury. The Windrose Global E700 6×4 tractor unit arrived in the UK this week and immediately headed to Fleete’s newly opened 5MW facility, successfully completing its inaugural UK charge.
The distinctive centre-driver cab of the Global E700 is now set to embark on a nationwide tour of logistics hubs and charging locations, showcasing how long-range electric trucks can operate efficiently on UK routes with high-power charging infrastructure.
Equipped with a flexible four-battery configuration and a total capacity exceeding 700kWh, the Global E700 is designed for demanding freight operations. Windrose reports that the truck can achieve over 700km of range even when fully loaded and operating at high speeds, positioning it as a viable solution for long-haul logistics.
The truck comes standard with Megawatt Charging System (MCS) and CCS2 compatibility, enabling access to high-power networks like Fleete Tilbury. The 5MW hub can simultaneously charge 16 electric trucks and is equipped with six Siemens Flex 540kW chargers and 12 Flex 500A dispensers across three islands. Each island is upgradeable to support MCS capability.
Additionally, the facility offers four Power Electronics charging points, featuring two NB cooled dispensers and one NB Station system, delivering up to 270kW per point with potential upgrades to 360kW.
Chris Morrison, CEO of Fleete, highlighted the importance of high-capacity infrastructure for electric heavy goods vehicles: “Hosting the first UK charge for the Windrose truck demonstrates the capabilities of high-power infrastructure for heavy vehicles. Trucks with batteries of this scale require fast, reliable energy delivery. Shared hubs like Fleete Tilbury provide exactly that as more fleets begin operating electric trucks on longer routes.”

Fleete’s shared-user charging model addresses common electrification barriers such as grid capacity, land availability, and upfront infrastructure costs, offering fleet operators access to reliable high-power charging without the need for dedicated facilities. The Tilbury hub is designed to accommodate additional fleets as demand for electric trucks grows.
