Rather than a full redesign, the latest model focuses on enhancing personalization, comfort, and lineup flexibility to appeal to a broader range of buyers.
Among the key additions are optional rear-side window power sunshades, expanded availability of the AMG styling package, and new MANUFAKTUR Editions. These special variants bring exclusive interior and exterior design elements, giving customers more opportunities to tailor the vehicle to their preferences.
Pricing for the 2026 GLE starts at $63,600, including a $1,350 destination fee. This places it slightly below rivals such as the BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne, while still offering a wide spectrum of trims, powertrains, and technology features. Mercedes-Benz continues to position the GLE as a versatile offering, catering to both entry-level luxury buyers and performance-focused customers.
A major highlight remains the GLE’s diverse engine lineup. Buyers can choose from turbocharged four-cylinder, inline-six, and V8 engines, alongside a plug-in hybrid option aimed at improving efficiency. The base GLE 350 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, delivering 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

The GLE continues to be offered in both a traditional SUV body style and a coupe-inspired version with a sloping roofline for a sportier look. The lineup includes seven trims: GLE 350, GLE 350 4Matic, GLE 450 4Matic, GLE 450e 4Matic plug-in hybrid, GLE 580 4Matic, AMG GLE 53 4Matic+, and AMG GLE 63 S 4Matic+.
Fuel efficiency varies across configurations. Non-hybrid models achieve up to an estimated 23 mpg combined. While official EPA figures for the 2026 plug-in hybrid have yet to be released, the previous version delivered up to 60 MPGe and approximately 50 miles of all-electric driving range, offering a practical solution for short-distance commuting.
Inside, the GLE maintains Mercedes-Benz’s signature blend of luxury and advanced technology.
