Hyundai has officially introduced its new IONIQ brand to the Chinese market during a launch event held at Hyundai Motorstudio in Beijing. The event, which took place from April 7 to 10, showcased two innovative concept vehicles named VENUS and EARTH, marking a fresh start for Hyundai’s electric vehicle lineup in China. This launch represents Hyundai’s commitment to expanding its presence in the country with a brand specifically tailored to meet local needs and preferences.

The IONIQ brand embodies Hyundai’s vision of “Progress for Humanity,” focusing on safety, quality, and technology designed to improve everyday life. The VENUS Concept is a modern sedan inspired by the beauty of its planetary namesake, featuring a sleek design finished in radiant gold. It boasts a distinctive one-curve profile and a lightweight roof structure that conveys elegance and confidence. Inside, the VENUS offers a driver-focused cabin with layered lighting, premium materials, and playful design elements aimed at creating an immersive experience.

In contrast, the EARTH Concept is a robust SUV designed for daily use, emphasizing vitality and balance. Its exterior combines sharp edges with sculpted surfaces while the interior offers a calm atmosphere inspired by nature. Innovative features such as air-hug seats and subtle technology enhancements provide comfort and convenience. The design also includes hidden details referencing Beijing, connecting the vehicle closely with its market.

Hyundai’s IONIQ brand introduces a unique naming system based on planets, symbolizing a universe centered on customers. This strategy reflects Hyundai’s approach to delivering an electric vehicle experience customized for Chinese consumers by integrating local technologies and partnerships alongside its global standards of safety and quality. During the launch event, around 400 Chinese media representatives and influencers attended, experiencing firsthand Hyundai’s new direction.

The event highlighted Hyundai’s plan to continue unveiling production models that combine smart driving technologies with advanced cabin experiences tailored for China. Li Fenggang, President of Beijing Hyundai Motor Company, emphasized the brand’s dedication to developing products that deeply understand Chinese customers’ lifestyles while maintaining world-class safety and quality.

Following this launch, Hyundai plans to showcase more details about its electrification strategy for China at the upcoming Beijing International Automotive Exhibition. This major auto show will serve as a platform where Hyundai will present concrete production models and reinforce its long-term commitment to the Chinese market. The introduction of the IONIQ brand marks a significant step in Hyundai’s global electric vehicle ambitions, starting with a strong focus on China.
