Acura Achieves Best First Quarter Sales in Four Years Led by SUV Growth

by Shreeya

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. announced solid sales figures for March and the first quarter of 2026, highlighting a strong performance from the Acura brand alongside its parent company Honda. Acura’s sales reached 12,397 units in March, marking a year-to-date increase of over 5% and delivering the best first quarter sales results for the brand in four years.

The growth was largely driven by the success of Acura’s SUVs and its gateway models, the ADX and Integra. Acura SUVs posted their best first quarter in six years, with MDX sales climbing to 4,272 units in March—the highest monthly total in 16 months—and RDX contributing an additional 2,487 units. The Integra model, refreshed late last year, saw a 42% jump in sales to 2,730 units in March, making it the brand’s best-selling gateway vehicle since September 2023. Combined sales of ADX and Integra exceeded 5,000 units for the first time ever.

Honda also reported strong results with total March sales of 117,677 vehicles and a first-quarter total of 304,478 units. The CR-V led Honda’s lineup with 40,793 sales in March—the model’s best month since April 2025—with hybrids making up 56% of that figure. The Passport TrailSport model set a new first-quarter record with sales of 4,979 units, representing more than 80% of Passport sales. Electrified models were especially popular among consumers, as Honda hybrid vehicles achieved an all-time high first-quarter total of 95,882 units. This included strong performances from Civic and Accord hybrids as well as over 1,500 units sold of the Prologue EV.

Other notable highlights for Honda include the Pilot SUV posting its best month in nearly a year with over 11,000 units sold across both March and the first quarter. The Odyssey minivan remained a segment leader with 7,262 units sold in March. Meanwhile, Honda passenger cars experienced their strongest month since August 2025 with March sales reaching 36,704 units, led by steady demand for Civic and Accord models.

Lance Woelfer, Vice President of Auto Sales at American Honda Motor Co., stated that while year-over-year comparisons are impacted by last year’s consumer pull-ahead effect due to tariffs, the overall sales performance remains robust. He emphasized that Acura continues to grow steadily year-to-date thanks to strong SUV demand and gateway model appeal. Likewise, Honda’s mix of fuel-efficient passenger cars and light trucks helped maintain solid sales momentum despite broader market fluctuations.

Overall, the first quarter of 2026 demonstrated growing consumer interest in electrified vehicles and SUVs within both Honda and Acura lineups. With Acura achieving its best Q1 performance in four years and Honda setting records for hybrid vehicle sales, American Honda appears well positioned to sustain positive momentum throughout the year.
