The current Acura RDX, last redesigned in 2018, will be phased out soon to make way for the fourth generation model. Early teasers reveal a more aggressive exterior with a larger diamond pentagon grille, split headlamps, and cleaner side profiles without door molding strips. The rear is expected to feature updated taillights and a steeply raked back glass. The TLX Type S boasts a powerful 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine that produces 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. It comes standard with all-wheel drive and a responsive 10-speed automatic transmission featuring paddle shifters for an engaging driving experience. Compared to the latest Toyota Camry hybrid models—which prioritize fuel efficiency with up to 51 miles per gallon combined—the TLX Type S offers a sportier ride with premium amenities such as heated and ventilated leather seats, an advanced ELS Studio sound system, dual-zone climate control, and extensive safety features.
Pricing comparisons show that used 2022 TLX Type S models can be found for around $35,000 to $37,000, which is close to or slightly above the price of fully loaded Camry XSE trims starting near $35,500. While the Camry offers more rear legroom and cargo space along with exceptional fuel economy, buyers looking for performance and luxury may find greater value in the TLX Type S.
