French automaker DS Automobiles has unveiled its latest flagship SUV, the DS No7, a full replacement for the popular DS 7. Designed to appeal to luxury EV buyers, the No7 blends traditional French elegance with modern electric vehicle technology, positioning DS for stronger growth in the electric mobility market.
Slightly larger than its predecessor, the DS No7 measures 4.66 meters in length—7 centimeters longer than the DS 7—with an extended wheelbase that provides increased rear-seat legroom. The SUV is 1.90 meters wide and 1.63 meters high, yet maintains impressive aerodynamics, boasting a drag coefficient of just 0.26.
Range is a major selling point for the new model. The Long Range electric version comes with a 97.2 kWh battery capable of covering up to 740 km on a single charge. Even at high-speed highway driving, DS reports a range of approximately 450 km. For buyers who don’t require maximum range, a 73.7 kWh battery is also available, delivering up to 543 km. Both options use a front-wheel-drive motor, producing 230 hp in the smaller battery model and 245 hp in the larger one. An all-wheel-drive variant pairs two motors to produce 350 hp, with a temporary “boost” reaching 375 hp, achieving 0–100 km/h in 5.4 seconds.
The DS No7 supports fast charging up to 160 kW, enabling drivers to gain around 190 km of range in just 10 minutes. Charging from 20% to 80% takes 27–31 minutes. Additionally, a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function allows the SUV to power external devices, such as laptops or small appliances, directly from its battery.
Inside, the DS No7 exemplifies French luxury. The cabin features a 16-inch central touchscreen and a 10-inch digital driver display. Integrated ChatGPT technology enables conversational interaction with the vehicle. Seats are crafted with memory foam and offer optional massage and neck-warming functions, while acoustic glass and a 14-speaker audio system enhance comfort and quietness.
The SUV’s Active Scan Suspension uses a forward-facing camera to detect road imperfections and adjust the suspension in real time, smoothing the ride and ensuring a flat, controlled feel. For those seeking alternative powertrains, DS is also offering a plug-in hybrid with a 1.2-liter gasoline engine and small electric motor. This model produces 145 hp, can operate in electric mode approximately 50% of the time in urban driving, and achieves fuel efficiency of 5.4 liters per 100 km without needing to plug in.
Production of the DS No7 will take place in Melfi, Italy, sharing components with Jeep and Peugeot models. DS emphasizes the SUV’s premium credentials with Nappa leather, real wood trim, and recycled materials for carpets and mats, while minimizing chrome for environmental reasons.
Pricing starts at around €41,800 for the hybrid model, with the full-electric No7 likely beginning near €46,900. A French business-oriented version is already available for €64,000. Positioned against luxury competitors like Audi and BMW, the DS No7 aims to attract buyers seeking a distinctive, high-end French SUV with cutting-edge electric technology.
