World champion Anna Morris claimed victory at the Tim James Memorial Races, organised by Bourne Wheelers to honour the late cyclist. The event drew a strong turnout, reflecting the community’s respect and affection for Tim James, who passed away several years ago.

Race organiser Mark Botteley, who first introduced Tim to cycling, highlighted the significance of the event. “It’s always very difficult to get volunteers to help when you’ve only got a small cohort of people because Bourne isn’t the biggest club, but the response for Tim’s race is always good,” he said.

Botteley emphasized that the memorial races serve as both a competitive platform and a way to celebrate Tim’s legacy. “Unfortunately we lost Tim quite a few years ago now, but he’s still very much missed, so it’s great that we can remember him,” he added.

The Bourne Wheelers club, despite its modest size, demonstrated strong organisational capability, ensuring that participants had a smooth and enjoyable racing experience. Volunteers managed the course, supported riders, and maintained safety throughout the event.

Morris’ victory was a highlight of the day, showcasing her continued dominance in women’s cycling. Her performance underscored the competitive spirit of the event and the high standard of racing it attracts.

Beyond the competition, the memorial races fostered community engagement, bringing together cyclists, family, and supporters to honour Tim James. The event reaffirmed the enduring impact of local clubs in celebrating both athletic achievement and the memory of beloved members.
