South Korea’s used-car market is seeing a push toward greater transparency with the launch of a new artificial intelligence-driven pricing service designed to help vehicle owners secure fair market value when selling their cars.
Mobility platform Whistle announced on April 22 that it has introduced an AI-based “actual transaction price report” within its used-car service, Pickdeal. The feature aims to deliver more reliable pricing estimates by analyzing real transaction data, addressing persistent concerns over undervaluation and limited market visibility.
The system aggregates a wide range of data sources, including official records from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT), to reflect completed vehicle transactions across the broader market. By focusing on actual sales rather than listing prices confined to individual platforms or dealer networks, the tool is designed to provide a more accurate picture of prevailing market values.
Conventional used-car valuation methods often rely on platform-specific data, which can result in fragmented or skewed price references. Whistle’s AI model seeks to overcome this limitation by incorporating nationwide transaction data, offering a more comprehensive benchmark for both sellers and buyers.
Beyond presenting average prices, the Pickdeal feature tailors valuations based on detailed vehicle information submitted by users.
