Hyundai Motor has introduced a new extended warranty program aimed at strengthening protection for buyers of its certified pre-owned vehicles, as competition intensifies in the growing used car market.
The program, branded Hyundai Certified Pre-Owned Warranty Plus, was unveiled on April 17 and is designed to supplement the standard warranty coverage already offered on Hyundai’s certified used vehicles. The initiative seeks to reduce the financial uncertainty often associated with post-purchase repairs, while enhancing overall customer confidence.
According to the automaker, all customers purchasing a Hyundai certified pre-owned vehicle are eligible to enroll in the program, regardless of the car’s model year or mileage. Pricing will vary depending on the specific model, allowing for a more tailored cost structure based on the vehicle type.
A key feature of the Warranty Plus plan is the absence of a deductible on covered repairs, eliminating out-of-pocket expenses for approved claims. Hyundai also noted that all repairs under the program will utilize new replacement parts rather than remanufactured components, a move intended to improve durability and long-term ownership satisfaction.
Coverage extends across a wide range of vehicle systems, including general mechanical components, heating and cooling functions, and major drivetrain elements such as the engine and powertrain. The company said the program is designed to deliver comprehensive protection across critical areas of vehicle performance.
To support the rollout, Hyundai has integrated the warranty into its nationwide service network. Customers will be able to access repairs at more than 1,230 authorized service centers, ensuring broad availability and convenience.
The program also offers flexible coverage terms. Buyers can select from subscription periods of three, six, nine, or 12 months, with corresponding mileage limits of 5,000 km, 10,000 km, 15,000 km, and 20,000 km. This structure allows customers to choose a plan aligned with their driving habits.
A Hyundai official said the new offering is intended to enhance the ownership experience for certified pre-owned customers, adding that the company aims to provide greater peace of mind after purchase.
Industry analysts say extended warranty programs are becoming an increasingly important tool for automakers seeking to build trust and differentiate their certified pre-owned offerings. Hyundai’s latest move reflects a broader push across the sector to strengthen after-sales support and elevate the perceived value of used vehicles.
