AutoScout24 reported a strong increase in vehicle listings during the first quarter of 2026, led by a surge in new car inventory, while prices for used and electric vehicles declined and cars sold more quickly across the market.
According to the company’s latest quarterly analysis, total vehicle listings on the platform rose 4.1% compared with the previous quarter. New car supply posted the biggest gain, climbing 8.3%, while used car listings increased 3.4%.
Among new vehicles, station wagons recorded the sharpest quarter-on-quarter growth, with listings jumping 29.4%. Alternative-fuel vehicles also expanded their presence in the new car market, with plug-in hybrid listings rising 13.8% and battery electric vehicle listings up 7.2%.
Pricing trends varied by segment. Average new car prices remained largely unchanged at CHF 61,078, representing a modest 0.2% increase. In contrast, used car prices fell 3.4% to CHF 36,884, offering buyers improved affordability.
Electric vehicles experienced some of the most significant price declines. The average price of new fully electric cars dropped 4.2% to CHF 51,424, while used electric vehicle prices fell 3.2% to CHF 40,599. New plug-in hybrid models also became cheaper, with average prices down 2.8%.
At the same time, vehicles moved off the market faster, signaling continued demand. Listing durations decreased 4.6% for used cars and 2.1% for new cars versus the previous quarter. Used diesel vehicles recorded the largest drop in time on market, with listing durations down 5.8%, while new electric vehicles sold 3.6% faster.
“The fact that vehicles are currently selling faster indicates strong market dynamics,” said Alberto Sanz de Lama, Managing Director Automotive at SMG Swiss Marketplace Group. “We provide our users with all the information they need to realistically assess vehicles.”
The report is based on passenger car listings posted on autoscout24.ch between January 1 and March 31, 2026, with data segmented by vehicle age, fuel type, and category to assess supply, pricing, and broader market trends.
