Chevrolet has introduced two new high-performance models to its Corvette lineup for 2027: the Corvette Grand Sport and the hybrid-powered Grand Sport X. These vehicles continue Chevrolet’s tradition of blending track-ready capability with everyday usability, carrying forward a nameplate that dates back to the 1960s. The new Corvette Grand Sport is powered by a newly developed 6.7-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, delivering 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque. This engine, known as the LS6, features forged pistons and rods, a high 13.0:1 compression ratio, advanced intake systems, and a sophisticated fuel delivery setup designed to maximize performance. It will also serve as the standard powerplant for the 2027 Corvette Stingray, marking a significant update for the model range.
The Grand Sport pairs this engine with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and comes equipped with Magnetic Ride Control suspension and Michelin Pilot Sport all-season tires. For enthusiasts seeking enhanced track performance, Chevrolet offers optional packages such as the Z52 Performance Package, which includes upgraded brakes, summer tires, and aerodynamic enhancements. A more track-focused Z52 Track Pack adds carbon-ceramic brakes, carbon-fiber splitters, dive planes, and high-performance Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires.
Alongside the traditional Grand Sport, Chevrolet has launched the Grand Sport X (GSX), a hybrid model that combines the same V8 engine with a powerful electric motor mounted on the front axle. This hybrid system produces a combined output of 721 horsepower, surpassing both the previous E-Ray hybrid and even the naturally aspirated Z06 model’s power figures. The GSX features an advanced all-wheel-drive system that improves traction and handling during acceleration and cornering. Standard equipment on the GSX includes Magnetic Ride Control, carbon-ceramic brakes, and Michelin Pilot Sport all-season tires, with a performance pack available to upgrade to summer tires.
Inside both models, Chevrolet has incorporated unique design elements exclusive to the Grand Sport lineup, including special color themes, embroidered headrests, and distinctive trim details. A special Launch Edition of the Grand Sport is offered with Santorini Blue interior accents and red contrasting stitching to emphasize its exclusivity.
Chevrolet has confirmed that these two models will arrive in showrooms during the summer of 2026. The Grand Sport represents a powerful but more accessible option compared to higher-tier models like the Z06, while the Grand Sport X introduces hybrid technology that blends impressive performance with all-wheel-drive capability. Notably, Chevrolet has announced that the Grand Sport will be the final variant of the eighth-generation C8 Corvette lineup, signaling an end to new versions of this iconic sports car generation.
With these additions, Chevrolet continues to expand its Corvette offerings by combining traditional V8 muscle with modern hybrid technology. This approach caters to both purists who appreciate naturally aspirated engines and drivers seeking cutting-edge performance innovations.
