Toyota has claimed the top spot in Warrantywise’s annual Used Car Reliability Index, with the Yaris returning as the most reliable vehicle. Scoring 89.2 out of 100, the Yaris stood out for its consistent, long-term performance, reinforcing its strong reputation among used car buyers.
Antony Diggins, Managing Director of Warrantywise, noted, “Toyota continuing to lead the rankings shows how consistent some brands can be over time. Models like the Toyota Yaris build a strong reputation for reliability year after year, which is why they remain such popular choices in the used car market.”
This year’s Index also highlighted the diversity of reliable vehicles, covering everything from compact city cars to family SUVs and work trucks. “At a time when repair costs continue to rise, and household budgets are under real pressure, knowing which cars are most likely to keep running without significant expense is more valuable than ever,” Diggins added.
The Toyota Yaris demonstrated durability with an average repair request cost of £888.90, showcasing its fuel efficiency, nimble handling, and dependable performance. Toyota placed four models in the Top Ten—the only brand to feature more than two vehicles—including:
- Toyota Aygo – 3rd place, 83.8/100
- Toyota RAV4 – 4th place, 79.9/100
- Toyota Hilux – 6th place, 78.4/100
Among Toyota models, electrical systems and clutch-related issues were the most commonly reported problems. Repair costs varied widely, from £1,587.60 for the Aygo to £6,503.57 for the Hilux.
The results underscore Toyota’s reputation for longevity and reliability, making it a top choice for cost-conscious used car buyers in the UK.
