ROX Motor and Bentley Lead the Charge in Combining Luxury with Rugged Capability

by Shreeya

The luxury SUV market is witnessing a significant shift as manufacturers increasingly focus on off-road capabilities alongside refined urban performance. This trend is highlighted by recent developments from ROX Motor and Bentley, both emphasizing ruggedness without compromising luxury.

ROX Motor made a striking entrance at the Manila International Auto Show 2026 with the global debut of its flagship luxury SUV, the ROX Adamas. Designed for versatility, the Adamas combines an extended-range electric vehicle system with advanced off-road technology. It features an air suspension and multiple terrain modes that allow seamless transitions from city streets to challenging trails. The vehicle also offers spacious six- or seven-seat configurations, enhancing comfort for families and adventurers alike.

The Adamas stands out with its Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (REEV) system, which delivers a pure electric range of 235 kilometers and a total driving range of up to 1,226 kilometers. This makes it particularly suitable for markets like the Philippines, where charging infrastructure is still developing. Its dual-motor all-wheel-drive system produces 350 kW of power and 740 Nm of torque, enabling quick acceleration and confident overtaking on highways.

Beyond performance, the Adamas is designed as a mobile living space. It features an integrated Tailgate Kitchen 2.0 and vehicle-to-load (V2L) power capability, allowing users to cook meals or power appliances during outdoor excursions without external generators. This flexibility aligns well with the increasing interest in road trips and off-grid adventures among Filipino consumers.

Meanwhile, Bentley is responding to dealer enthusiasm by considering production of an off-road version of its Bentayga SUV. The Bentayga X Concept, revealed earlier this year, boasts significant off-road enhancements such as raised suspension offering 12.2 inches of ground clearance and nearly two feet of wading depth. Dealers have expressed strong interest in bringing this model to market as a limited production “supreme offering,” according to Bentley’s North America CEO Mike Rocco.

Powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine delivering 641 horsepower, the Bentayga X Concept combines traditional Bentley luxury with serious off-road capability. Its design includes widened track dimensions and extended wheel arches to accommodate larger wheels, enhancing stability and ruggedness.

The push for off-road luxury SUVs reflects broader consumer trends favoring vehicles that offer both high-end comfort and the ability to handle diverse terrains. Competitors such as BMW, Audi, Lincoln, and Mercedes-Benz are also exploring similar models to meet growing demand.

As fuel prices fluctuate and lifestyles shift towards more outdoor-oriented activities, luxury SUVs with genuine off-road functionality are gaining appeal among buyers seeking versatility without sacrificing sophistication. ROX Motor’s Adamas and Bentley’s potential Bentayga off-road model exemplify this emerging segment where luxury meets adventure.
