Uxin Opens Sixth Used Car Superstore in Tianjin as It Expands Across China

by Shreeya

Uxin Ltd., a leading used car retailer in China, has officially opened its sixth superstore in Tianjin, marking a significant step in its nationwide expansion. The new facility combines a car reconditioning factory with a showroom capable of displaying up to 3,000 vehicles. Tianjin, with a population exceeding 13 million and around 4 million registered vehicles, is seen as a strategic location for Uxin’s growth due to the city’s emphasis on developing its automotive industry.

This latest superstore complements Uxin’s existing outlets in Hefei, Xi’an, Wuhan, Jinan, and Zhengzhou. The company aims to open four to six additional stores throughout 2026, including planned locations in Jiangsu and Ningxia provinces. Uxin is actively negotiating with other cities to further expand its offline presence as part of its transition from an online used car trading platform to a hybrid model that includes physical superstores.

The expansion strategy involves forming joint ventures with local governments, a model that has already been implemented successfully in cities like Xi’an and Hefei. These partnerships help secure funding and support for the new stores, although Uxin still faces financial pressures from its investment commitments. To address this, the company raised $50 million in December from investors including the venture capital arm of electric vehicle manufacturer Nio.

Uxin reported strong financial performance in the first nine months of last year, with revenues rising 67% year-on-year to approximately 2.04 billion yuan ($296 million). At the same time, operational losses narrowed significantly, reflecting improved efficiency as the company scales its offline network. Despite these gains, Uxin’s shares have declined by about 30% over the past year, highlighting market challenges amid rapid expansion.

The Tianjin superstore is part of Uxin’s broader plan to strengthen its footprint across Northern China and beyond. By integrating large showrooms with vehicle refurbishment facilities, Uxin aims to provide customers with a comprehensive used car buying experience. The company’s growth ambitions align with China’s increasing demand for used vehicles and government support for automotive industry development.

Looking ahead, Uxin’s strategy focuses on building a resilient financial base while expanding its retail network. The proceeds from recent financing rounds are expected to fund the launch of multiple new superstores this year and improve overall financial stability. As the used car market continues to evolve in China, Uxin is positioning itself as a key player by combining online expertise with expanding offline infrastructure.
