Hyundai Unveils Updated 2027 Staria Models With Hybrid Options Abroad

by Shreeya

Hyundai has introduced a mid-cycle refresh for its 2027 Staria and Staria Load models, now featuring a hybrid powertrain option. These updates were first launched in Australia, where the refreshed lineup includes the flagship Staria Lounge with a premium seven-seat configuration and enhanced styling. Despite these advancements, the Staria range remains unavailable in the United States, although it continues to be sold in other international markets.

The updated Staria Lounge boasts several new features such as the Hyundai Digital Key 2 system, which allows drivers to unlock doors and start the engine using a compatible smartphone. Inside, the model offers upgraded materials like Nappa leather seats with heating and ventilation for the first two rows. The exterior design has been refined with a sharper horizontal grille and exclusive color options including Creamy White and Shimmering Silver.

Under the hood, the 2027 Staria lineup now includes three powertrain options: a diesel engine producing 130 kW (174 hp), a gasoline engine delivering 200 kW (268 hp), and a newly introduced 1.6-liter turbocharged hybrid system offering a combined output of 180 kW (241 hp). All variants come with front-wheel drive. Hyundai also announced plans to launch a fully electric version of the Staria Load later in the year, expanding the model’s powertrain choices further.

In addition to these product updates, Hyundai has created buzz with a cryptic teaser video signaling “something big” set to debut at the New York Auto Show. The automaker’s brief clip shows a spinning cube-like rock in a barren landscape, hinting at an upcoming major world premiere during their press conference scheduled for April 1. While details remain under wraps, industry speculation points toward a potential production version of Hyundai’s Crater concept, an off-road SUV design that could fill a gap in Hyundai’s lineup.

Hyundai’s new product strategy appears focused on broadening its appeal across diverse vehicle segments, from family-oriented people movers like the Staria to rugged SUVs that meet growing consumer demand for adventure-ready vehicles. The upcoming reveal at the New York Auto Show is highly anticipated by automotive enthusiasts and analysts alike, as it may showcase Hyundai’s next step in innovation beyond their current offerings.

With these developments, Hyundai continues to strengthen its global vehicle portfolio by blending cutting-edge technology, enhanced comfort features, and expanded powertrain options. The refreshed Staria models offer improved practicality and premium touches for markets outside North America, while the mystery around the new unveiling keeps attention on Hyundai’s evolving presence in the competitive automotive landscape.
