Chiron Medical Group has strengthened its commitment to women’s health by expanding its “1:1 Breast Health Empowerment Charity Campaign.” Earlier this year, the campaign provided 105 free 3D mammogram screenings and one-on-one medical consultations to women from low-income backgrounds.
Six interactive workshops were also held, guiding underserved women to understand breast health and encouraging them to book timely screenings.
The campaign uses advanced 3D mammography, which captures breast tissue details in just four seconds per side. This technology supports earlier and more accurate detection of potential cancer.
Building on its initial success, Chiron Medical launched the second phase of the campaign during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The program now offers 300 free breast screening quotas, doubling its previous capacity. Registration is simple, with no income or eligibility restrictions. Under the “1:1 model,” every paid 3D mammogram directly funds a free screening for a woman in need.
To reach more beneficiaries, Chiron Medical is partnering with two non-profit organizations: the Caritas Mutual Aid Centre for Single Parent Families and the Hong Kong Federation of Women’s Centres (HKFWC).
Findings from the first phase highlight a major community need:
- 85% of participants were found to have breast abnormalities, such as nodules or fibroadenomas, requiring continued monitoring.
- 6% were suspected of having malignant tumors, and one woman was later diagnosed with breast cancer. All were referred to public hospitals for follow-up care.
- More than 90% of women with abnormalities did not detect any issues through self-examination alone.
These results show a clear gap in self-detection awareness and reinforce the importance of regular professional screenings. In response, Chiron Medical is increasing its outreach efforts through more seminars and free screenings, aiming to help women understand early detection and reduce long-term health risks.
Ms. Fong Nga-yee, Head of Clinic Operations and Head of Nursing at Chiron Medical Group, said the first phase was encouraging. Many women who were hesitant about screening became more confident after attending the workshops. She noted that the second phase aims to reach even more underserved women, correct common misconceptions, and highlight the life-saving importance of early detection.
Ms. Vanness Lo, Team Leader of the Caritas Mutual Aid Centre for Single Parent Families, emphasized that many caregivers neglect their own well-being while supporting their families. She welcomed the collaboration with Chiron Medical, saying the initiative will help women understand their health earlier and promote a culture of self-care.
Ms. Sisi Liu, Director of HKFWC, expressed gratitude for the sponsored screening quotas. She noted that the support not only cares for women in need but also helps spread the message of self-love and wellness.
Chiron Medical continues to focus on both disease treatment and long-term health management. Its goal is to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care supported by expert guidance. The campaign is led by FemWell, Chiron Medical’s dedicated women’s health brand, located in Tsim Sha Tsui. The center offers a private, comfortable, and women-centric environment designed to support every stage of the screening process.
