Katherine Ryan’s 16-year-old daughter, Violet, has revealed her intention to undergo lip filler injections when she turns 18, despite her mother’s cautionary experience with cosmetic procedures.
Speaking to The Times about their beauty routines and favorites, Violet confidently stated, “I will definitely have lip filler when I’m 18. Just half a millilitre. It will look so nice!”
The comedian, 42, has previously shared that her own early experience with lip fillers left her permanently scarred. Speaking openly about the procedure, she admitted, “I had really dodgy lip injections when I was young. That was when I was 21. It’s never gone away. I still have scar tissue. I don’t know what they injected in my lips.”
While Katherine supports UK laws that prevent minors from undergoing cosmetic procedures, Violet pointed out, “Yes, but at 18 I don’t have to ask your permission.”
Katherine also recounted her first filler experience, describing it as “this amateur doing it in a basement for cash” using what she believed to be silicone. She emphasized the importance of making careful beauty decisions at a young age: “I tell 16-year-olds what my mum told me—you think you won’t care what you look like when you’re 40 because that’s basically the grave—but you do still care. And you need to make decisions at 16 for the rest of your life.”
Violet, who enjoys sunbathing, also acknowledged the long-term effects of UV exposure, saying, “I really, really like to tan. But now I know what wrinkles are, and I don’t want them, so I wear SPF 50 on my face and SPF 30 on my body.”
Katherine, who has undergone multiple cosmetic procedures, including breast implants and plans for a facelift, has spoken candidly about handling criticism. “I’m impervious to criticism. If people want to gossip about the way I look, I feel I’m providing them with a useful service as a comedian,” she said. “Some people really like to criticise and I don’t mind, like as long as they’re having a good time doing it. I’m so lucky. I really don’t care.”
Violet is Katherine’s child from a previous relationship. Katherine shares three younger children—son Fred, four, daughters Fenna, two, and Holland Juliette, five months—with her husband and childhood sweetheart, Bobby Kootstra.
