In a community-focused initiative, Drishti Eye Institute recently hosted a free eye screening camp in Guniyal Gaon, Dehradun, aimed at supporting elderly residents, children, and underprivileged members of the community. The event provided crucial eye care services to individuals who often face barriers in accessing healthcare.
The camp offered comprehensive screenings, including cataract, glaucoma, and retina checks. These examinations help detect common eye conditions early, preventing potential vision loss and improving overall quality of life. Experts emphasized the importance of regular eye check-ups, particularly for older adults who are more prone to eye disorders.
Over 100 patients attended the camp, highlighting the strong demand for accessible eye care in the area. Many participants expressed appreciation for the services, noting the challenges they face in obtaining timely medical care. Beyond medical examinations, the camp also served as an educational platform, teaching attendees about maintaining eye health, recognizing warning signs, and the value of routine check-ups.
The event was organized by the Drishti Foundation under the leadership of Dr. Savita Luthra. Committed to social welfare and corporate social responsibility, the foundation seeks to improve community well-being through initiatives like free medical camps.
“Through outreach and education, we aim not just to treat eye conditions but to empower individuals with knowledge to prioritize their vision care,” said Dr. Luthra.
