FamilyWell Health has secured $8 million in Series A funding to advance its integrated women’s mental health care services.
The financing, led by New Markets Venture Partners with contributions from .406 Ventures, GreyMatter Capital, The Alix Foundation, The Donna Fund, and The Lee Foundation, will support FamilyWell’s national expansion and the growth of its virtual mental health offerings embedded in women’s health practices.
Currently operational in five states and serving over 200,000 lives, FamilyWell connects patients quickly to care teams including care managers, coaches, therapists, and psychiatric providers, with services covered by insurance.
The company is broadening its focus beyond perinatal mental health to include perimenopause and menopause care. This extension addresses significant mental health challenges experienced by about 70% of women in these stages, such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, and cognitive changes.
FamilyWell also provides certification training through the FamilyWell Academy, enhancing providers’ expertise in women’s mental health issues during perinatal and menopausal phases.
Founder and CEO Dr. Jessica Gaulton highlights that women’s mental health has long been neglected, with screening and treatment gaps contributing to maternal suicide being the leading cause of death during pregnancy and postpartum.
The new funding will accelerate AI-driven innovations, expand the FamilyWell Academy training programs, and deepen partnerships with OB/GYN providers nationwide to reshape standards of care and address this critical health crisis for women.
FamilyWell operates an integrated care model that embeds virtual mental health services into clinics and health systems, helping patients access support within 24 hours.
The expansion aims to support women throughout their reproductive lifecycle, from fertility through menopause, enhancing mental health outcomes and reducing provider burden. FamilyWell joins other specialized women’s mental health service providers such as Mavida Health and Seven Starling in addressing these urgent needs.
