The mobile breast screening unit will be at Long Sutton Medical Centre, Trafalgar Square, Long Sutton, PE12 9HB.
Eligible patients registered at Long Sutton Medical Centre will be invited for screening by the Lincolnshire Breast Screening Service.
If this location is inconvenient, or if mobility issues make it difficult to attend, patients can also book a screening at Lincoln County Hospital, Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, or Grantham and District Hospital.
Alysa Page, Breast Services Operational Manager at United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, said:
“Early detection of breast cancer is vital for improving a woman’s chances of successful treatment. We strongly encourage women to attend their breast screening appointments. While prevention of breast cancer is not well understood, detecting it early greatly improves outcomes. Around one in seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. Screening is an important step in reducing the impact of this disease.”
In the UK, breast screening is offered every three years to women aged 50 and over. Women between 50 and 70 are routinely invited for screening. The first invitation usually comes between their 50th and 53rd birthday.
Women experiencing symptoms before their scheduled screening should contact their GP immediately, rather than waiting for the routine appointment.
If you are invited for screening but cannot attend, please inform the service by phone or email so the appointment can be offered to another patient.
