Volkswagen is set to expand its electric vehicle lineup in Europe with the launch of the new ID. Cross, a compact SUV designed for everyday family use. Scheduled to arrive this fall, the ID. Cross will start at an accessible price of approximately €28,000. The model is already being showcased in the Netherlands, where it has been spotted in distinctive camouflage.
Positioned in the highly popular small SUV/crossover segment, the ID. Cross aims to combine practicality with first-class electric mobility. “The five-seater targets customers seeking everyday-friendly, high-quality electric driving at an affordable price,” Volkswagen said.
The exterior design reflects Volkswagen’s new “Pure Positive” design language, featuring clean lines, balanced proportions, and a premium appearance. While understated, the ID. Cross exudes a confident presence on the road.
Inside, the cabin emphasizes calm and clarity, with high-quality materials and craftsmanship typically associated with larger vehicles. Efficient use of space, intuitive controls, and large-format displays enhance the overall user experience.
Under the hood, the ID. Cross offers flexibility for a range of driving needs. Powertrain options include 85 kW, 99 kW, and 155 kW variants, paired with 37 kWh or 52 kWh batteries. This allows the model to accommodate both city commuting and longer trips outside urban areas. Advanced driver-assistance systems contribute to comfort and safety, while the vehicle supports DC fast charging up to 90 kW, and up to 105 kW for the larger battery.
By combining practicality, modern design, and competitive pricing, the ID. Cross is positioned to appeal to European families looking for an efficient and versatile electric SUV. Its arrival marks Volkswagen’s continued push into accessible electric mobility for the mainstream market.
