Brandi Glanville opened up about the harrowing health challenges she faced due to her breast implants, revealing that the ordeal cost her $200,000 and that her ex-husband, Eddie Cibrian, did not support her throughout the process.
During the February 26 episode of the “I Do, Part 2” podcast, the 53-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum explained that her implants, which she had for nearly 20 years, were making her seriously ill.
“They were making me sick,” Glanville said. “I went to 21 doctors. I’m telling you, [it cost] $200,000. I had insurance, but the people at my insurance, Kaiser let’s just say, sucks.”
Glanville added that she paid out-of-pocket to see multiple specialists, including infectious disease doctors and rheumatologists, visiting “every doctor you can think of.” Despite her extensive testing, mammograms initially showed no issues, leaving doctors puzzled about the root of her symptoms.
She described the sudden onset of health problems, including lumps in her neck, brain fog, and fatigue, noting that all symptoms were initially on her left side. A later sonogram revealed that her right breast had ruptured, resulting in silicone leaking into both of her lymph nodes.
Now, after removing her implants, Glanville says she feels rejuvenated. “I’m two weeks out right now, but the first week, I was, like, up. I was actually doing too much because I was so excited to be moving,” she said.
Despite the improvement, Glanville admitted she has been navigating recovery largely alone. “My sons have been— they’re 18 and 22, so they’re grown,” she said of Mason and Jake, her children with Cibrian.
When asked if Cibrian, 52, now married to LeAnn Rimes, provided any support, she replied, “No. He has not [shown support], but we are getting along and that’s all I can ask for. We are together on holidays.”
Glanville also noted that Rimes, 43, has had limited involvement in her health journey. “I mean, they have me over for the holidays. I talked to her at Christmas a little bit, but I hadn’t told anyone about my breasts yet,” Glanville explained. However, her sons did share the news with Rimes, leading to a light-hearted exchange.
In addition to the physical challenges, Glanville revealed how the health issues affected her personal life. She shared that she hasn’t been intimate in three years due to the loss of confidence caused by her illness. She also struggled with a face parasite, which she believes may have been linked to the ruptured implants, further impacting her well-being.
Reflecting on the past few years, Glanville described them as “dark times,” marked by isolation from everyone except her sons. “I’m still working on my confidence. It’s just a lot of — it seems silly — but as women, when you look good, you feel good,” she said.
