City Surgery Center, the on-site surgical facility at Kirby Plastic Surgery, has renewed its accreditation from the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (Quad A) for the fifth consecutive year, underscoring its continued compliance with nationally recognized standards for patient safety and quality of care.
The reaccreditation signifies that the facility meets rigorous benchmarks comparable to hospital-level requirements, including surgeon credentialing, anesthesia safety, equipment maintenance, and emergency preparedness. Quad A, a nonprofit accrediting body endorsed by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, requires accredited centers to demonstrate full compliance with its standards annually.
Dr. Emily Kirby, founder of Kirby Plastic Surgery and a board-certified plastic surgeon, said the renewal reflects an ongoing commitment to maintaining strict safety protocols across all procedures.
“Safety should never be compromised, whether a patient is undergoing a major body-contouring surgery or a smaller operation,” Dr. Kirby said. “Quad A accreditation ensures that our processes, equipment, and staff training are independently evaluated against national benchmarks.”
According to Dr. Kirby, maintaining accreditation involves continuous oversight beyond periodic inspections. The center conducts regular quality and safety audits, enforces infection-control measures, provides ongoing staff training and credentialing, and maintains detailed equipment maintenance records. Patient outcomes and feedback are also reviewed to guide operational improvements.
City Surgery Center operates with board-certified MD and DO anesthesiologists, representing the highest credentialing level for anesthesia care. Dr. Kirby said the facility was designed to combine the privacy and convenience of an in-office surgical suite with safety standards typically associated with major hospitals.
“This accreditation verifies that we have achieved those standards year after year,” she said.
The facility enables physicians to perform a wide range of aesthetic procedures on-site, including breast augmentation, breast lifts, tummy tucks, liposuction, and combined “mommy makeover” surgeries. Procedures are supported by individualized anesthesia plans and an Enhanced Recovery After Surgery protocol developed by Dr. Kirby over 14 years of clinical practice to reduce reliance on narcotic pain medications and support faster recovery.
City Surgery Center also features private pre- and post-operative areas, secure lockers with charging stations, a recovery suite staffed by registered nurses, and a private exit leading to reserved parking at the Shops at Clearfork, aiming to streamline the outpatient experience.
Dr. Kirby emphasized that the reaccreditation reflects the work of the entire clinical and administrative team.
“Our team is the backbone of our practice,” she said. “We’ve built a culture centered on patient safety and outcomes, and this recognition is a testament to their dedication.”
Dr. Kirby is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. She earned her medical degree from Texas A&M College of Medicine, completed a six-year integrated plastic surgery residency at the University of Kentucky, and pursued fellowship training in pediatric and craniofacial plastic surgery in Utah. She previously served as the first female Chief of Plastic Surgery at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.
