Brandi Glanville, former star of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” recently faced a serious health scare that required urgent surgery to remove her breast implants. The 53-year-old reality television personality revealed that her implants had both ruptured and were leaking, a condition that posed significant health risks and left her deeply frightened ahead of the procedure.
Glanville became concerned when she noticed a change in her appearance, specifically that her right breast looked smaller than the left. After seeking medical advice, a sonogram revealed that her left implant had a slow leak while the right one had completely ruptured. Alarming to doctors was the fact that silicone from the implants had spread into her lymph nodes under both arms, potentially causing further medical complications.
Medical professionals informed Glanville that the silicone buildup might be affecting her body’s ability to drain fluids, which could have contributed to facial swelling and other troubling symptoms she had been experiencing. These symptoms included blurred vision, facial changes, and muscle stiffness, which had appeared after a trip to Morocco for filming. Glanville noted that the implants, initially placed in 2007, are now outdated and are no longer made or considered safe.
Once the severity of the situation became clear, Glanville sought the help of Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Ariel Ourian to perform the removal surgery. The operation took place after doctors warned that keeping the implants posed life-threatening risks. Glanville decided not to have new implants put in, stating that she no longer wanted to have any silicone in her body.
The surgery marks another chapter in Glanville’s ongoing battle with health issues since her Morocco trip, where she believes she contracted a parasite leading to wider health problems. While she continues to consult medical specialists in hopes of making a full recovery, Glanville remains hopeful that the removal of the implants will help restore her energy, health, and confidence as she looks towards returning to work and normal activities.
