A 38-year-old mother from Kent is warning others after a £6,000 Brazilian butt lift in Spain left her in severe pain and facing multiple health complications just a week after surgery.
Josephina Finch, a make-up artist and mother of three, had traveled to Spain seeking a “rounder bum,” combining the procedure with implants. While initially excited about the results, her experience quickly turned traumatic.
“I thought I was going to die, I felt so poorly,” Finch recalled. “I didn’t really have anything wrong with my bum. I just wanted something different, a curvier look.”
Within days of the procedure, Finch began experiencing intense pain. Fluids reportedly began gushing from an inch-and-a-half incision at the top of her buttocks, and she was put on a drip to stay hydrated. Doctors later confirmed her implants were infected.
“The nurse came in and started to push my bum cheeks together, and litres of fluid came out of the incision,” she said.
Finch says she had to wait eight days for her surgeon to return from holiday before the implants could be removed. During that period, she endured excruciating pain and limited mobility.
Her ordeal worsened when she developed a blood clot in her leg, which doctors treated with blood thinners. Sharp chest pains the following day prompted an emergency hospital visit, where doctors warned the clot could have traveled to her lungs—a potentially fatal complication.
The mother described the entire experience as “actual hell” and said it has left her with lasting anxiety and guilt. “All just to have a slightly bigger bum,” she said. “I’ve got three children, and I have that guilt forever now for taking that risk.”
Six months later, Finch has turned to a safer alternative: personal training at the gym. She now enjoys the results she once sought from surgery. “I should have just gone to the gym in the first place,” she said. “I tried to take the easy way out but risked everything.”
Doctors have warned that if Finch develops another blood clot, she may need to remain on blood thinners for life.
