What should have been a routine school day turned into a devastating tragedy for the family of 14-year-old Paloma Nicole Arellano Escobedo. On September 20, the teenager died following a series of secretive plastic surgeries, including breast implants, a Brazilian butt lift, and liposuction.
Her father, Carlos Arellano, said he was unaware of the procedures until after her death. He had been informed by Paloma’s mother that the teenager had tested positive for COVID-19 and would be quarantining in the mountains of Durango. In reality, Paloma was at a clinic undergoing cosmetic surgery allegedly performed by her mother’s boyfriend, Víctor Manuel Rosales Galindo.
Following the surgeries, Paloma experienced severe complications, including cardiorespiratory arrest and brain swelling. She was placed in a medically induced coma and put on a ventilator. Despite a week-long battle, her condition never improved, and she passed away on September 20.
Carlos began to suspect the truth during a hospital visit, noticing that Paloma was wearing a surgical bra—an unusual detail if she were only suffering from COVID-19 complications. At her funeral, family members also observed visible changes to her chest, raising further questions.
Private examinations by female relatives confirmed the presence of surgical scars, revealing that Paloma had undergone multiple cosmetic procedures. Carlos described feeling deceived and heartbroken—not only by his daughter’s untimely death but also by the hidden circumstances surrounding her final days.
Adding to the family’s distress, Paloma’s death certificate was issued unusually quickly, citing cerebral edema from respiratory illness as the cause. Carlos has publicly disputed this explanation, demanding transparency and acknowledgment of the surgeries.
