Integrated oncology services are emerging as a vital strategy for faster and more accurate cancer detection. Advances in imaging and radioactive-based therapies now allow doctors to identify the disease at earlier stages with greater precision.
This approach not only accelerates diagnosis but also helps patients receive tailored treatment plans, improving the likelihood of successful outcomes. In response to growing demand, hospitals across Indonesia are expanding oncology services combined with nuclear medicine.
Mayapada Hospital Tangerang has recently upgraded its facilities to strengthen cancer treatment capacity and provide advanced technology for residents of Banten and the Greater Jakarta area.
Jonathan Tahir, President Commissioner of Mayapada Healthcare, explained that the initiative reflects the hospital’s long-term commitment to expanding public access to essential health services, particularly in oncology.
“We continue to improve access to advanced, comprehensive, and patient-centered care that meets international standards,” Jonathan said in a statement to VOI.
The newly developed facility includes an integrated oncology service center supported by nuclear medicine and cutting-edge diagnostic tools such as Digital PET Scan and SPECT-CT. These technologies allow doctors to examine cells and tissues in greater detail, detect cancer earlier, and monitor therapy responses more accurately.
Inpatient care capacity has also been expanded to support ongoing treatment. Navin Sonthalia, President Director & CEO of Mayapada Healthcare, highlighted that cross-specialty service integration is key to a smoother, more efficient patient treatment flow.
“With Tower 4, we now offer an integrated oncology service center connected with our existing three towers,” Navin said. He also noted that collaboration with international partners helps strengthen clinical expertise, standardize evidence-based protocols, and develop subspecialty services.
Clinically, the hospital now offers nuclear medicine and theranostics with advanced facilities such as hot labs and radioactive isolation rooms. These services are fully integrated with radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and inpatient care, allowing patients to complete their entire treatment journey—from screening and diagnosis to follow-up therapy—within the same center.
Dr. Nurhidayati Endah Puspita Sari, Director of Mayapada Hospital Tangerang, emphasized that integrating multiple treatment modalities enhances clinical service quality, especially for cancer patients.
“By combining radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, PET Scan, chemotherapy, and oncology inpatient care, we aim to strengthen our role as a regional cancer referral center and expand access for the people of Tangerang, Banten, and Greater Jakarta,” she said.
The hospital’s services are supported by a multidisciplinary team, including a Tumor Board and Patient Navigator assistance, to guide patients and families through the treatment process. Future plans include expanding services to eye care, fertility, mental health, and other supportive health programs, ensuring comprehensive care for the community.
