Work has begun on a new £3.4 million mental health hub in Bush Hill Park that will bring together services currently operating from two separate sites.
The state-of-the-art facility is being built in Park Avenue and is primarily funded through the Better Care Fund, an NHS England programme aimed at integrating local health and care services through a shared budget.
Once completed, the hub will consolidate mental health services currently based in Park Avenue and Silver Street, creating a single, welcoming location offering high-quality, community-based support.
Additional funding has been provided through Section 106 contributions from local developers, as well as Enfield Council’s corporate condition programme, which supports the improvement and replacement of council-owned buildings.
The new centre will offer specialist mental health services alongside a community café designed to provide short-term crisis support and preventative care. Services will also include support for people managing long-term conditions, access to rehabilitation, and help with training, volunteering and employment.
Enfield Council’s cabinet member for health and social care, Cllr Alev Cazimoglu, visited the site this week alongside contractors Greyline and Allen Construction Consultancy to mark the start of construction.
Cllr Cazimoglu said the project represented a major step forward in mental health provision for local residents.
“By bringing services together under one roof, we are creating a safe, accessible space where people can receive the right help at the right time,” she said. “This hub reflects our commitment to prevention, early intervention and strong community support.”
The mental health hub is expected to open to residents in late spring.
