Central Coast families can now access free, walk-in mental health support for their children at the new Medicare Mental Health Kids Hub in Tuggerah.
The hub was officially opened by Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Emma McBride MP and NSW Minister for the Central Coast David Harris MP.
The Tuggerah facility is the first of four Kids Hubs being established across New South Wales. The initiative is part of a $35.8 million joint investment, with $17.9 million contributed by both the Australian and NSW governments to support children’s mental health.
Kids Hubs provide free services for children aged 0–12 and their families, carers, and kin. The services target children experiencing mild to moderate developmental, emotional, social, or behavioural challenges. Families do not need a diagnosis or referral to access care.
The hub’s team—including mental health clinicians, allied health professionals, care navigators, and peer workers—offers support tailored to each child and family.
Under the National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Agreement, the Australian and NSW governments are partnering to establish four Medicare Mental Health Kids Hubs across the state. This effort is part of a broader national initiative, with the Australian Government investing nearly $85 million over four years to create a network of 17 Kids Hubs nationwide.
The Central Coast Medicare Mental Health Kids Hub is located at 2 Reliance Drive, Tuggerah, and is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
