Bucharest Launches New IVF Funding Program for Women and Couples

by Shreeya

Bucharest City Hall has opened registrations for the “FIV3 – A Chance for Infertile Couples” program, a new initiative that offers financial support for in vitro fertilization (IVF). The scheme grants up to RON 15,000 (about EUR 3,000) to 150 applicants, including couples or single women who need fertility treatment.

The project is managed by the city’s Administration of Hospitals and Medical Services (ASSMB). Its online registration platform will reopen on Monday, November 3.

The municipal authority said the money can be used for both fertility medication and medical procedures. To qualify, applicants must be diagnosed with infertility by a certified obstetrics and gynecology specialist. Both married and unmarried couples, as well as single women, are eligible, according to News.ro.

Approved earlier this year by the Bucharest General Council, the program aims to boost the city’s birth rate. It plans to support up to 2,000 beneficiaries between 2025 and 2026, with a total budget of RON 30 million.

The “FIV3 – A Chance for Infertile Couples” program will run from June 2025 until December 2026.
