Robotic IVF Startup Conceivable Raises $50M to Expand Access

Conceivable Life Sciences has raised $50 million in Series A funding to advance its robotic in vitro fertilization (IVF) platform, aiming to make fertility treatment more affordable, effective, and widely available.

A New Approach to IVF

Conceivable describes itself as the world’s first AI-powered automated IVF laboratory. Its core system, called the AURA platform, combines robotics and artificial intelligence to standardize more than 200 delicate steps that make up the IVF process.

By reducing human variability, the company says its technology could lower costs, improve success rates, and expand access to people who might otherwise be unable to afford or access fertility treatment.

Milestone Birth and Ongoing Studies

In April 2025, the company announced a major milestone: the first baby born through its automated intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) system, a digitally controlled process that replaces manual lab work with robotic precision.

Clinical trials are now underway. According to Dr. Alejandro Chavez-Badiola, co-founder and chief medical officer, a pilot study involving 100 patients is in progress.

“Early results are very encouraging,” Chavez-Badiola said. “We already have 18 healthy babies from an earlier prototype study, and ongoing pregnancy outcomes look promising. The data suggests that robotic precision combined with AI-driven protocols can outperform traditional manual methods.”

Funding to Drive U.S. Expansion

The Series A funding round was led by Advance Venture Partners (AVP), with participation from existing investors ARTIS Ventures, Stride, and ACME. The raise brings the company’s total funding to $70 million, following a $20 million seed round in 2022.

CEO and co-founder Alan Murray said the new capital will accelerate development and help support the company’s planned U.S. market entry in 2026.

“This funding validates our vision of transforming IVF through AI-powered robotic automation,” Murray said. “We’re addressing the biggest challenges fertility clinics face today—unpredictable success rates, limited capacity, and access barriers.”

Why It Matters

IVF is one of the most effective fertility treatments available, but it remains costly, time-consuming, and often out of reach for many families. With more than 300,000 IVF cycles performed annually in the U.S.—a number expected to grow—demand continues to outpace clinic capacity.

Investors say Conceivable’s full-service automation approach could be a turning point.

“The fertility industry is at a critical inflection point,” said Alex Christ, general partner at AVP. “While most companies focus on one piece of the process, Conceivable has developed an end-to-end platform that integrates every step. That level of innovation could fundamentally expand access to care.”

If successful, Conceivable’s technology could make IVF treatment more consistent, efficient, and affordable—potentially reshaping the future of fertility care worldwide.
