Cadillac is preparing to end production of its CT4 model line, including the high-performance CT4-V Blackwing, with order books closing on April 20. This move signals the end of an era for the small luxury sedan segment from American automakers, as no direct replacement for the CT4 has been announced. Production of the CT4 will cease in June, making new orders impossible after the deadline.
The CT4 has been Cadillac’s entry-level sedan and the only model priced under $40,000. It offers a range of powertrains starting with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Higher trims include a 2.7-liter turbocharged engine delivering 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, while the CT4-V boasts 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet. At the top is the CT4-V Blackwing, powered by a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 that generates an impressive 472 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. The sedan also features rear-wheel drive as standard and offers both a six-speed manual and a ten-speed automatic transmission.
The discontinuation of the CT4 means American buyers will lose one of their few options in the small luxury sedan market, which has already seen other models like the XT4 exit. However, Cadillac’s larger CT5 model will continue production through the end of 2026, with plans for a next-generation version confirmed but details on timing and specifications remain undisclosed.
Despite declining sales—5,616 units sold in 2025 compared to over 16,000 CT5s—the CT4 has maintained a loyal following due to its balanced handling and performance features, especially in the Blackwing trim with its manual transmission option. Enthusiasts seeking a new CT4 or CT4-V Blackwing must act quickly before order books close.
Looking ahead, Cadillac may consider re-entering the small luxury sedan market depending on how competitors like Ford, Buick, and Chrysler fare with their own sedan revivals. For now, Cadillac’s focus remains on evolving its CT5 lineup and leveraging its existing platforms, which also underpin upcoming models like the next Camaro.
With sedans showing signs of resurgence in the American market, industry watchers are curious whether Cadillac will revive its smaller sedan offerings or shift focus entirely toward SUVs and crossovers in response to consumer trends. Until then, buyers interested in Cadillac’s performance sedans have only a short window to secure a new CT4 or CT4-V Blackwing before production ends.
