Kia India has unveiled the 2026 edition of the Kia Sonet, expanding its compact SUV lineup with new automatic variants across the Diesel 6-speed automatic and Turbo Petrol 7DCT powertrains. The updated model is priced starting at Rs 9,77,900 for the diesel automatic and Rs 9,89,900 for the turbo petrol automatic (ex-showroom).
With urban traffic congestion on the rise, many buyers are gravitating towards automatic gearboxes for reduced driving fatigue, greater comfort, and enhanced convenience in daily commutes. Responding to this trend, Kia has broadened its automatic portfolio to offer a wider range of trims for Indian customers.
The 1.5-litre Diesel 6-speed automatic is now available in HTE(O), HTK(O), HTK+, and HTK+(O) trims, while the 1.0-litre Turbo Petrol 7DCT comes in HTK(O) and HTK+(O) variants. This expansion brings automatic transmission options under the Rs 10 lakh mark, a notable development in the compact SUV segment.
The diesel automatic caters to buyers seeking fuel efficiency and cost-effective ownership, while the turbo petrol 7DCT enhances the sporty and dynamic appeal of the Sonet.

Since its debut in 2020, the Kia Sonet has become one of India’s best-selling compact SUVs, surpassing the 5 lakh sales milestone. The model now offers five powertrain options, 15 standard safety features, 10 Level 1 ADAS technologies, and over 70 connected car features, solidifying its reputation as a versatile and feature-rich compact SUV.
