Volkswagen is preparing to introduce the updated Taigun in the market in the second quarter of 2026. The compact SUV has already been spotted testing multiple times, revealing several key details about its upcoming design revisions and feature upgrades. The facelifted model is expected to bring noticeable styling changes, a more premium interior and the addition of a new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Design and Exterior Updates
Spy shots suggest that the refreshed Taigun will adopt several styling cues from Volkswagen’s larger SUVs, including the Tayron. Most of the visual changes are concentrated at the front, where the SUV will feature a full-width LED light bar along with illuminated Volkswagen logos inspired by the Tayron.
The front fascia also receives a redesigned bumper and an updated headlamp setup with LED lighting. The lower section of the bumper has been reworked with wider air intakes and a faux scuff plate, giving the SUV a sportier appearance.
From the side, the Taigun’s silhouette remains largely unchanged. However, it will receive a new set of alloy wheels. Other familiar elements such as conventional door handles, blacked-out B-pillars, roof rails and a shark-fin antenna will continue.
At the rear, the facelifted model gets refreshed tail-lights connected by a thicker LED light bar, offering a more modern lighting signature. The rear bumper has also been redesigned for a cleaner and more streamlined look.
Interior and Features
Inside the cabin, the Taigun facelift is expected to share several components with the upcoming Skoda Kushaq facelift. The interior is likely to feature new upholstery options and refreshed colour themes to enhance the premium feel.
The SUV is expected to be equipped with a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Standard equipment could include a sunroof, automatic climate control and four-wheel disc brakes.
Higher-spec variants may offer additional comfort features, including rear seats with a massage function. The top-end model is also expected to feature a panoramic sunroof, while lower trims will likely come with a single-pane sunroof.
Engine Options and New 8-Speed Automatic
The 2026 Volkswagen Taigun facelift will continue to be offered with two turbo-petrol engine options. The first is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI engine producing 115 PS and 178 Nm of torque. This engine will remain paired with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard but will replace the existing six-speed automatic with a new eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The second option is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI engine that delivers 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque. This more powerful unit will continue to be paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission.
With refreshed styling, upgraded technology and a new automatic gearbox option, the upcoming Taigun facelift aims to strengthen Volkswagen’s position in the competitive compact SUV segment when it launches in 2026.
