Subaru Corporation and Infineon Technologies AG have announced a strategic collaboration to design a new microcontroller unit (MCU) for Subaru’s integrated electronic control unit (ECU). The ECU will manage advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and vehicle motion control in upcoming Subaru vehicles.
The partnership focuses on enhancing Subaru’s next-generation E/E (electrical/electronic) architecture, which will be applied across battery electric, hybrid, and gasoline models.
Subaru aims to achieve ultra-low latency and reduced power consumption in vehicle control data processing, improving both driving performance and efficiency.
As part of the collaboration, Subaru has been involved from the early stages of the development of Infineon’s AURIX™ TC4x automotive MCU, helping optimize its specifications for vehicle applications. The AURIX™ TC4x will be integrated into Subaru’s ECU to coordinate systems such as the next-generation EyeSight driver-assist technology and all-wheel drive (AWD) control.
By combining ADAS and vehicle motion control, the new MCU will further enhance Subaru’s vehicle dynamics, including driving, turning, and braking performance. The collaboration is expected to deliver greater safety, reliability, and driver confidence.
