Singer Baek Ji-young has publicly addressed rumors claiming she spent 1 billion Korean won on plastic surgery.
On February 28, her YouTube channel Baek Ji-young Baek Z Young released footage showing Baek and her husband, Jeong Seok-won, consulting a plastic surgeon.
During the session, Baek emphasized the importance of natural results over following trends. “If you follow trends in plastic surgery, you’ll fail. Trends change, and following them can make you look unnatural later. It’s better to find something that suits your face naturally,” she said, adding that this insight comes from years of personal experience.
Reflecting on her past procedures, Baek shared, “I once followed trends—thick double eyelids were popular back then. Now, people prefer subtle, natural looks. My nose was originally low and small, and because I appear on screen often, I aimed for a result that looked natural rather than exaggerated. Some go overboard, even if it looks artificial.”
When Jeong asked why she had multiple procedures, Baek explained, “It’s not about wanting more. Flaws that are invisible to others are noticeable to me. Once you’ve had surgery and see improvements, there’s a psychological urge to continue refining.”
Responding to the rumor of spending 1 billion won, Baek firmly denied it. “No way. Who spends that much?” she said, laughing. In a previous interview two years ago, when asked whether she would change her face for 1 billion won, Baek joked, “What are you talking about? My face is worth that much,” bringing laughter to the set.
When asked about the number of times she had surgery on her nose, she playfully avoided the question, prompting more laughter.
