Phil Rizzuto, a renowned oculoplastic surgeon at Rizzuto Eyelid and Facial Plastic Surgery, has been named the Career Achiever in Providence Business News’ 2026 Health Care Summit & Health Care Heroes Awards program. The award recognizes his outstanding contributions to the health care field in Rhode Island and beyond.
Rizzuto serves as a professor of surgery at Brown University and operates a solo practice specializing in eyelid and facial plastic surgery. In his academic role, he trains medical students and ophthalmology residents while also serving on the admissions committee at Brown Medical School. He further extends his expertise at the Providence VA Hospital, providing both clinical care and mentorship.
A nationally and internationally recognized authority in his field, Rizzuto has lectured extensively on advanced oculoplastic procedures he has developed in Providence. He also serves on the board of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has represented the organization in Washington, D.C., advocating for improved health care funding and legislation affecting Rhode Island.
This year, Rizzuto is among 16 honorees selected across eight categories for the program, now in its third year. The Health Care Heroes Awards recognize individuals whose work has made a significant impact on the health care sector in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts, highlighting achievements in patient care, innovation, and leadership.
Honorees will be formally recognized at Providence Business News’ annual Health Care Summit, scheduled for April 2 at 9 a.m. at the Providence Marriott Downtown. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from award recipients and celebrate their contributions to the region’s health care community.
