Martha Stewart Addresses Plastic Surgery Rumors, Reveals One Reconstructive Procedure and Her Real Skincare Routine

by Shreeya

Martha Stewart is once again setting the record straight about long-running plastic surgery rumors—this time with added context.

In a new interview with People, the 84-year-old lifestyle icon said her youthful appearance is the result of healthy living and consistent skincare, not cosmetic surgery. Stewart emphasized that she has never undergone plastic surgery for aesthetic reasons, despite persistent speculation.

“Everybody insists that I’ve had plastic surgery and I have not ever had plastic surgery,” Stewart told the magazine. “I’m the most honest person on earth—but if they won’t take my word for it, I don’t know. How can they not take my word for it? That’s the truth!”

However, Stewart did acknowledge that she has visited a plastic surgeon once in her life—strictly for reconstructive care following an accident.

According to Stewart, the incident occurred about a decade ago while she was preparing to leave for an appearance on Today during a blizzard. As she bent down to kiss one of her French bulldogs goodbye late at night, the dog startled and jolted upward, causing Stewart to slam her lip against her tooth.

“She didn’t bite me,” Stewart explained, “but she bashed my lip into my tooth and split it almost all the way to my nose.”

Instead of heading to the television studio, Stewart went directly to a surgeon. She said the injury required approximately 16 stitches and marked the only time she has ever missed a scheduled appearance. Stewart stressed that she does not consider the procedure cosmetic plastic surgery, describing it instead as a necessary medical repair.

“You cannot see it,” she said, adding that the wound healed exceptionally well. “That is the extent of a plastic surgeon working on my face. That is the only time I’ve ever had a plastic surgeon touch my face.”

Stewart has previously been open about her approach to aesthetics. In 2024, she invited her dermatologist, Dr. Dan Belkin, onto her podcast, where they outlined the non-surgical treatments she uses. These include occasional Botox and fillers, laser treatments, and skin-tightening procedures such as Sofwave. Stewart has also noted that while she is not particularly fond of Botox in the upper face, she is comfortable using it on her lower face and neck.

While public debate around celebrity beauty claims is unlikely to fade, Stewart’s transparency has remained consistent. And regardless of skepticism, her appearance continues to draw admiration—prompting many fans to wonder if they can sign up for the same routine when they reach their 80s.
