British model Rhian Sugden has undergone breast reduction and uplift surgery, citing both health and aesthetic reasons for the procedure. The 38-year-old revealed that her F-cup breasts, which contributed to her rise to fame, had become “back-breaking” and affected her posture.
On Thursday, Sugden shared a photo of herself in a hospital gown on social media, accompanying it with playful captions: “Bb Voyage. Thanks for the mammaries. Ts a big day!” She added hashtags including #breastreduction, #SnipSnipHooray, #TheGreatDeflation, and #BreastInPeace.
The Manchester-born model had previously posted a countdown to the surgery, noting the physical strain caused by her chest. “T minus 2 weeks before these absolute back breakers get an overhaul making me a perky Sue again,” she wrote alongside a photo in a white bra.
Sugden told The Daily Mail that while she has always benefited from her mother’s slim genes, her weight tends to accumulate in her breasts, making walking “unbearable.” She also expressed a desire to improve her posture and fitness: “I just booked a personal trainer because I want to build a bum and some legs… I want to go to the gym to sort my posture out because I am hunched over all the time.”
Her breast size increased significantly after the birth of her son George in April 2024, jumping from a 32D to an F cup. Sugden shared that her ideal size would be a B or C cup, though she acknowledged that changes could affect her modeling career.
The procedure also allows her to wear a wider range of clothing with confidence, including backless dresses and swimwear. “I can’t wear nice outfits… I’m getting older, and gravity is going to kick in any day,” she said.
Sugden, who rose to fame as a Page 3 model at 19 and earned £100,000 for her appearance on Celebrity Big Brother in 2012, defended her decision after facing criticism on social media. She addressed trolls who suggested she simply lose weight to reduce her chest size: “Messaging me and calling me deluded for wanting a reduction… is absurd. Seriously, what is wrong with humans these days?”
Sharing her experience, Sugden emphasized the personal nature of her decision: “I’m sharing my journey because this is a big and, yes, scary move for me, but it’s something I NEED to do for myself… It’d be nice to have support, and if you don’t have anything nice to say, just don’t say anything at all.”
