From BBLs to Breast Augmentation: Cadaver-Derived Fat Fillers Create New Opportunities for Breast Implants

In a surprising development for cosmetic surgery, donated cadaver fat is emerging as a new tool to help patients achieve their desired body contours, including Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBLs) and breast augmentation.

According to reports, companies are now converting fat from donated human bodies into injectable fillers, allowing procedures that were previously out of reach for many patients. The product, marketed under the brand name AlloeClae, is described as “sterilized donor-derived adipose tissue” and is currently available in limited use nationwide.

Caro Van Hove, president of Tiger Aesthetics, the company behind AlloeClae, emphasized that all donors have consented to the use of their fat for aesthetic procedures. “We ensure all our tissue is consented to for aesthetic use… The donor material is meticulously screened in accordance with regulated and high-quality tissue practices,” she told The Cut.

Doctors say these fillers are transforming the possibilities for patients who otherwise lack sufficient fat for surgery. The natural donor fat not only provides volume but also stimulates collagen production, enhancing the overall results.

“This technology is a game-changer,” said Dr. Sachin M. Shridharani, a Manhattan-based surgeon. “Many patients come to us after poorly performed liposuction, with contour irregularities or over-resection, and these fillers allow us to correct these issues effectively.”

Beyond cosmetic enhancements, cadaver-derived fat fillers are also showing promise in reconstructive surgery. Breast cancer survivors, in particular, can benefit from biocompatible tissue injections for post-mastectomy breast reconstruction. Researchers at Yale School of Medicine note that tissue engineering in breast reconstruction is advancing rapidly, and the inclusion of donor fat could significantly expand treatment options.

Transparency remains a priority for surgeons using the technology. “It’s tissue that’s been gifted in kind, and it’s no different from situations where a patient needs additional cartilage but doesn’t want the scarring of harvesting their own tissue,” Dr. Shridharani explained.

As cosmetic and reconstructive practices continue to evolve, cadaver-derived fat may offer a safe, effective, and more inclusive alternative for patients seeking body contouring and breast augmentation.
