In a major enforcement action to protect consumers and curb counterfeit goods, authorities in Delhi have seized a substantial quantity of alleged fake skin care products imitating the popular personal care brand JOY. The operation was carried out following court-ordered raids in prominent markets across the capital.
The action involved three simultaneous Local Commissions, conducted at two premises in Sadar Bazar and one in Dilshad Garden. These raids were executed under an ex-parte order issued by the Delhi High Court in a trademark and copyright infringement suit filed by Joy Creators LLP, the company behind the authentic JOY brand.
During the raids, authorities recovered extensive stocks of allegedly infringing cosmetic and skin care products. The seized items included packaging, labels, and promotional materials that closely imitated the branding and trade dress of genuine JOY products, which have been trusted by Indian consumers for decades.
The Local Commissioners meticulously prepared detailed inventories and photographic evidence of the seized goods. While some resistance was encountered at certain locations, the court-mandated process was successfully executed, ensuring that all counterfeit items were sealed and documented according to legal procedures.
Experts noted that such counterfeit products pose significant risks to consumers, as fake skin care items often fail to meet safety and quality standards. Authorities emphasized that the crackdown highlights the importance of intellectual property protection and vigilant enforcement in the fast-moving consumer goods sector.
