Audi’s upcoming RS Q6 Sportback e-tron has reappeared during high-speed testing at Germany’s Nürburgring, nearly two years after it was last seen, indicating that the performance-focused electric SUV coupe is moving closer to its official reveal, potentially later this year.
Set to sit above the SQ6 Sportback in Audi’s expanding electric SUV lineup, the RS variant is expected to combine more aggressive design elements with a significant boost in performance. Recent prototype sightings reveal a reworked front fascia featuring a larger, more angular lower intake, honeycomb mesh inserts, and distinctive triangular accents with horizontal slats, underscoring its sportier intent.
The model also appears to incorporate a unique front-end treatment influenced by Audi’s China-market vehicles, including vertical air curtains positioned at the outer edges. Several of the front openings are likely functional, directing airflow to cool an upgraded braking system equipped with larger calipers.
Further visual enhancements include slim vents integrated into the front fenders, lightweight wheels specific to the RS model, and a redesigned rear bumper paired with a more pronounced diffuser. The rear design notably replaces traditional exhaust outlets—common on combustion-powered RS models—with sculpted elements and a central channel, reinforcing its fully electric identity.
Although the interior has not yet been fully revealed, the RS Q6 Sportback e-tron is expected to carry over Audi’s latest digital cockpit layout. This includes an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch central infotainment display, and a 10.9-inch passenger screen. Performance-oriented upgrades such as sport seats, carbon-fiber trim, and RS-specific badging are also anticipated.
Official technical specifications remain undisclosed, but the model is widely expected to build upon the SQ6’s dual-motor all-wheel-drive system and 100-kWh battery pack. The SQ6 delivers up to 510 horsepower with launch control, while the RS version is likely to offer a notable increase in output.
Industry observers suggest Audi could draw heavily from the Porsche Macan Turbo Electric, which shares the same Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture. In that configuration, a dual-motor setup produces up to 630 horsepower and 833 lb-ft of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 162 mph.
If similar performance figures are adopted, the RS Q6 Sportback e-tron could become one of Audi’s fastest production SUVs, further strengthening its lineup of high-performance electric RS models.
