Audi E7X Becomes Fastest Electric SUV at Asia’s First Ridge Circuit

by Shreeya

Audi has introduced its new electric SUV, the E7X, which recently set a new lap record at Asia’s First Ridge Circuit in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province. The E7X completed the challenging 2.42-kilometer track in just 1 minute and 47.93 seconds, outperforming competitors such as the Xiaomi YU7 and the Porsche Macan Electric. This achievement highlights Audi’s growing presence in the electric vehicle market, particularly in China, where the brand operates through a joint venture with SAIC.

The Audi E7X is equipped with a powerful dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivering a peak output of 500 kW (670 horsepower) and 800 Nm of torque. This allows the SUV to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in only 3.9 seconds. Its advanced chassis features rear-wheel steering, Brembo four-piston brakes, and an aluminum suspension setup. The vehicle also benefits from Pirelli staggered tires with wider 285-mm rear tires and a Continental air suspension combined with a ZF continuous damping system and anti-roll bars for enhanced handling.

Measuring 5049 mm in length, 1997 mm in width, and 1710 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3060 mm, the E7X is a large SUV designed with Audi’s distinctive styling cues. Buyers can choose between 21-inch or 22-inch wheels. The base model comes with a rear-wheel-drive setup powered by a single electric motor generating 300 kW (402 horsepower), while the top-tier all-wheel-drive version offers the full 500 kW output. The vehicle’s top speed is electronically limited to 230 km/h.

Audi offers two battery options for the E7X: a 100 kWh pack and a larger 109.3 kWh pack that provides an estimated driving range between 635 and 751 kilometers on a single charge. The automaker reports that the E7X underwent extensive testing, accumulating over 3,200 hours across more than 860 different scenarios to ensure reliability and performance.

The new Audi electric SUV will make its official debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2026. This launch marks an important step for Audi as it expands its electric lineup aimed at Chinese consumers through its partnership with SAIC. With its record-setting track performance and advanced engineering features, the Audi E7X is poised to compete strongly against established rivals such as Porsche and Tesla in the rapidly evolving electric SUV segment.
